Two people from Thailand were arrested at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport on Friday after customs officers found a gun in their baggage.
Phositthiphan Rachasak , 42, and Phositthiphan Sumalee, 39, entered Vietnam on tourism visa, the police said.
The duo took the flight QR834 of Qatar Airways from Bangkok that arrived at Noi Bai at 2:17 p.m.
Customs officers found a gun while screening their baggage.
The man said he works as a policeman and his wife is a doctor in Thailand and that they were on a leisure tour to Vietnam.
It was unclear why they brought along a gun.
Police are investigating the case.
Last month, a Chinese passenger was arrested in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport while he was about to leave for Cambodia.
The 47-year-old man was found to have a pistol in his baggage, the airport customs agency said.
