Three trailer trucks have been seized by police in the southeastern Vietnamese province of Binh Duong for using counterfeit military license plates.
Traffic police patrolling on National Route 13 on Friday pulled over two trailer trucks for suspected use of forged license plates.
The trucks, numbered TH72-20 and TH72-23, were found using red-painted license plates, which are reserved for military vehicles only.
In Vietnam, license plates are color-coded to identify vehicles’ registered use, with white for individuals or businesses, dark blue for civilian administrative bodies, red for military units, and yellow for construction units or border commands.
Military vehicles in Vietnam are granted immunity by law from police inspection while on the move.
The two drivers, 37-year-old Nguyen Van Hung and 30-year-old Tran Van An, admitted to fitting fake military license plates on their trucks to bypass police checks.
Local authorities have temporarily confiscated the vehicles for further legal proceedings.
On Thursday afternoon, Binh Duong police also seized another trailer truck with a fake military license plate.
