The central city hosted the first tourist arrivals at Da Nang International Airport on Tet (Lunar New Year) on February 8.
The Macau-Da Nang direct Jetstar Pacific flight brought 180 tourists from Macau, who will tour the destinations in the city and Hoi An City during the Tet holiday.
Visitors were welcomed with a lion dance and given li xi (lucky money) at the airport.
As scheduled, more than 18,000 foreign tourists will arrive on 175 direct flights to visit the city during the holiday.
The city also hosted the first cruise to arrive on the first day of the Lunar New Year.
The Libra Superstar Cruise, with 1,200 foreign passengers, docked at the city’s TienSa for a tour that will last several days.
It’s the first cruise of the Lunar New Year.
The city is expected to welcome three more cruise ships of Volendam, Superstar Libra and Superstar Virco firms, which will bring 3,000 tourists to the city during the Tet holiday.
National carrier Vietnam Airlines has launched chartered flights between Da Nang and Xian in Shaanxi Province and Changsha in Hunan Province of China during Tet.
According to the city’s culture, sports and tourism department, more than 76,000 tourists, including 40,000 foreigners, were staying in hotels and resorts to celebrate Tet in the city.
