Da Nang anticipates sharp rise in visitors during Tet

The central coastal city of Da Nang expects to welcome over 200,000 tourists during the Lunar New Year festival, an increase of 16.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

The first visitors to Da Nang city are welcomed by local authorities

More than 1,300 foreign tourists arrived in Da Nang on February 8, the first day of the Year of the Monkey, becoming the first visitors to the beach city in the Lunar New Year. Of them, 1,200 came on the Libra Superstar cruise line, while 180 flew in on a flight from Macau.

On this occasion, local authorities organised several activities to welcome the first visitors during Tet holiday including gift offerings and art performances.

The tourists joined in activities to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year, besides regular destinations in their tours such as Ba Na Hill, Son Tra peninsula, Ngu Hanh Son, and Cham museum.

Three more cruise liners are also expected in the city during the holiday, which are the Volendam, Superstar Libra and Superstar Virco with around 3,300 tourists on board, up 3.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

Besides, 18,870 international tourists on 175 international flights are scheduled to land in the beach city during the Tet holiday, a hike of 29 percent against the same time in 2015.
