A Vietnamese photographer has recently taken home a prize for the second consecutive year at an international photography contest that wrapped up on Wednesday, the organizers have announced on their website.
Ly Hoang Long earned a special mention from judges in the “Face, People, Encounters” category of the 2015 Travel Photographer of the Year contest, along with five other artists from Poland, Brazil, Australia, and Italy.
Long’s photo depicts an old Vietnamese farmer who transports bamboo fishing baskets in Tat Vien Village, of the northern province of Hung Yen.
He was also named the runner-up in the “One Shot” category of the travel photography contest last year for his photo capturing two children flying kites on a sand hill in the south-central Vietnamese province of Binh Thuan.
The 2015 contest kicked off on May 28 and concluded on October 1.
This year, Danish photographer Marsel van Oosten beat contestants from 110 countries around the world to become the winner with his two portfolios describing cypress trees in Louisiana and the great white pelicans.
The Vietnamese photographer has long been called “the king of digital photos” with 20 years of experience and around 210 local and international photography prizes.
His photo, “Net Mending” (Dan Luoi), was the winning image of the Asia Pacific region at the 2014 CBRE Urban Photographer of the Year competition.
The Travel Photographer of the Year award was founded by professional photographer Chris Coe and his wife and business partner in 2003.
The contest attracts professional and amateur photographers from 100 countries around the world and receives thousands of entries each year.
Chris Coe is a self-taught photographer who photographs landscapes, people, wildlife and architecture in a range of formats including 35mm, panoramic and medium using both film and digital cameras.
