The Da Lat Flower Festival is set to open in the eponymous resort town in the Central Highlands on December 29.

The sixth biennial festival will feature flower exhibitions, a carnival, a market, a conference on flower farming and a street displaying Lam Dong Province’s specialties like wine, tea and coffee.

There will also be calligraphy a photo exhibition of flowers, a trade fair, and a tourism promotion fair.

Vo Ngoc Hiep, chairman of the Da Lat People’s Committee, said one of new features of this year’s festival would be the bedecking of many streets with flowers.

“Tourists can enjoy flowers everywhere, including in residential areas,” he said at a press briefing in Ho Chi Minh City this week.

The festival is aimed at promoting the Da Lat brand, which is synonymous with tourism and relaxation, and honoring the city’s flower farmers and flowers.

Hiep said all the flowers for the festival would be sourced from local farmers.

Organizers have worked with local hotels and guesthouses to ensure they do not gouge visitors, he said.

Around 500,000 tourists are expected to visit Da Lat during the five-day event, which will end on January 2, 2016.
