Leaders of Vietnam Airlines (VNA) are committed to perfecting its products and services as they strive to become a five-star airline within the next three years.
At the moment it is at four-star standard in Business Class on routes to and from the UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.
VNA has built and improved upon the quality provided to premium passengers and on long-haul flights.
Services are in accordance with the standards of leading airlines around the world, from check-in and departure lounges to dining and in-flight services.
Its human resources are also fully trained in line with such standards and the carrier has met all criteria of Skytrax (a UK-based consultancy that operates an airline and airport review and ranking site).
In its ground services, the airline focuses on improving and providing customer services for business class, such as creating a customer care database. Check-in for business class has been decorated with a mix of elegance and luxury and departure lounges have been upgraded.
VNA will also provide duty free shopping on all international flights from January 1, 2016.
According to Mr. Dang Ngoc Minh, General Director of Vietnam Airlines, in this early stage of implementing four-star standards its ticket prices will not change. The number of seats in business class will increase by 75 to 80 per cent after two months of putting its new Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft into operation.
Since mid-2014 Skytrax has passed VNA in 80 per cent of the more than 970 criteria in reaching four-star standards, according to Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, Head of Market Services.
New planes attract passengers
National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines said increasing numbers of passengers are flying business class to experience the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-900 XWB.

Vietnam Airlines director Pham Ngoc Minh said passenger occupancy in the three months since the Boeing 787 and Airbus 350 had entered service had increased to up to 80%.
“Passengers are impressed with the four-star services and new planes,” Minh said. “We spent USD2bn on upgrades to attract more passengers.”
Vietnam Airlines is the first carrier in Asia to have both the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-900 XWB in operation.
The Airbus 350 currently operates on the Hanoi/HCM City – Paris route. Vietnam Airlines is currently running the new Dreamliner on the Hanoi-HCM City route from August 3 and began Hanoi/HCM City to London Heathrow services in September. The Dreamliner will eventually operate on flights to Frankfurt.
