NDO – The Mekong Delta culture and tourism week will take place in Hanoi from November 15 to 18, introducing the capital’s dwellers cultural features of provinces in the region.

It is also the starting event of a series of activities scheduled for the 2016 National Tourism Year, which spotlights the Mekong River Delta region.

The festival will bring together cities and provinces in the region, including Kien Giang, An Giang, Hau Giang, Can Tho, Ca Mau, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Vinh Long, Tien Giang, Long An, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, and the host Hanoi.

The participating localities will co-organise an exhibition featuring the cultural and tourism attractions of the Mekong Delta through visual objects, agricultural tools, daily utensils, and musical instruments.

The exhibition will also focus on historical sites, tourist attractions, and traditional art forms of each locality.

A fashion show of traditional costumes, folk games, recreations of traditional festivals, a culinary festival, and a seminar seeking ways to preserve and promote cultural heritage while developing tourist products of the Mekong Delta region will also be held at the event.

The festival will open with an art performance, scheduled for the evening of November 11 at the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts, No.2 Hoa Lu street, Hai Ba Trung district, and will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television.
