Vietnamese pupils win 18 medals at SIMOC 2015 Related image(s)
Vietnamese pupils achieved the highest honors winning 4 gold, 3 silver and 11 bronze medals and 18 certificates of merit at the Singapore International Mathematics Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) 2015.
(Photo: vnexpress.net) The event attracted 405 pupils from the second to tenth grade from 13 countries and territories including Bulgaria, Cambodia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Kazakstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Pakistan, Singapore, China, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. PhD. Tran Nam Dung from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences, the head of the delegation said the exam questions were not so difficult and quite interesting. Contestants had to answer 25 questions including in 90 minutes. Only one fourth grade student, from the Philippines, obtained a perfect score. The SIMOC 2015 is followed by the SASMO 2015 (Singapore and Asian Schools Mathematical Olympiad) which was held in April 2015. This year, SASMO 2015 had 32,000 participants from 15 countries and territories from around the world. The students who won prizes at the event were invited to participate the SIMOC. The aims of the contest is also to promote math movements in the primary and high schools, academic games and cultural exchanges./. |
