HA NOI (VNS) — Nguyen Thi Anh Vien did not make it to the semi-finals for the World Swimming Championships’ women’s 200m freestyle yesterday in Kazan, Russia.
Vien didn’t perform as well as expected. She finished her event with a time of 2min.00.80sec in heat five of the qualifying round, ranking 31st out of 63 athletes. Her time was slower than her record of 1:59.27 at the 28th SEA Games in Singapore in June.
The SEA Games eight-time winner will have one final chance to make it to a final round at the world competition when she takes part in her best category: the 400m individual medley on Sunday.
In the fourth day today, Viet Nam’s Hoang Quy Phuoc will compete in the men’s 100m freestyle qualifier. — VNS
