Vietnamese tourists seem to be cancelling their tours to Thailand after the Bangkok bombings on August 17.
On August 18, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) sent a document to local travel companies urging them to somehow ensure safety for their tourists.

Travel firms are required to work with their partners and Vietnamese diplomatic agencies in Thailand to have access to the most up-to-date information and help ensure the safety for Vietnamese tourists. They also need to pay attention to security warnings in foreign countries before their tours. They should inform Vietnamese diplomatic agencies of any problems.
A representative from the Ben Thanh Tourist said the company now has 800 travellers in Thailand and it has cancelled some activities in central Bangkok such as shopping, instead they took their tourists to Pattaya.
After the second explosion at Sathorn Pier on August 18 afternoon, Ben Thanh Tourist decided to cancel all tours to Thailand for the next three days.
Vietravel have also contacted their tourists in Bangkok, advising them to stay at the hotel in the evening and not come to public places with crowds.
Many Vietnamese travellers of Fiditour, Vietravel and Saigontourist have cancelled their trips to Thailand or asked for the change to other destinations after the explosion.
A representative from Fiditour said that a number of customers have asked to cancel their trips to Thailand and some others wanted to change to other countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia or event to inbound tours like Hanoi and Phu Quoc Island.
Doan Thi Thanh Tra, Director of Saigontourist, said that the company is willing to change tours for any customer, adding that “We are closely co-operating with the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand to provide the latest information on what’s going on in Bangkok”.
