Becamex Binh Duong crushed Can Tho 4-1 in the 19th round of the V-League Saturday to maintain 1-point lead over Thanh Hoa who also beat Song Lam Nghe An 2-1 on Sunday.
Hosts Binh Duong took an early lead at the Go Dau Stadium when 27-year-old Croatian striker Marko Simic got a pass from Cong Vinh and beat Can Tho’s goalkeeper Buu Ngoc in the fourth minute.
A stung Can Tho attacked in waves and went past the Binh Duong defenders more than once but goalkeeper Thien Esele stood like a rock.
Binh Duong then scored two more goals by Oloya Moses and Tang Tuan in the 71st and 74th minutes.
Marko completed a double in the 82th minute, but Can Tho reduced the difference after Cong Thao went past Binh Duong’s defenders and scored the only goal for his team.
In other Saturday matches, Dong Tam Long An beat Khanh Hoa 2-0, Hai Phong beat Da Nang 2-0 while Hanoi T&T was held with a 0-0 draw by Dong Nai.
On Tuesday (August 4), Quang Ninh will host Hoang Anh Gia Lai in a late round 19 match that had been delayed due to flooding in Quang Ninh.
