The programme entitled “Huong Sac Viet Nam” (Essence of Vietnam) put the first note to the opening ceremony, with a traditional folk music performance and “Ao dai” show.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hoang Tuan Anh said the event would introduce the unique cultural values and art performances featuring a beautiful Vietnam with 21 tangible and intangible heritages recognised by UNESCO as well as the friendly and hospitable people.

Mara Tekach, Deputy Assistant to the US Secretary of State said Vietnam and the US have witnessed significant and huge achievements in comprehensive cooperation during 20 years, in which the understanding of culture and people-to-people exchanges always played an important role as a bridge of friendly relations, thereby promoting peace between the two countries.

The performances are expected to bring local audiences and overseas Vietnamese closer to Vietnam’s culture, people and landscapes.

The Vietnamese Cultural Days in the US are scheduled to run until August 12th in Washington D.C and New York City./.
