Nguyen Huu Tho memorial site inaugurated in Long An province Related image(s)
(CPV) – The memorial site for lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho was inaugurated and listed as a national relic site in Long An province on July 29th.
Invested by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the project began in July, 2010 on the occasion of the lawyer’s 100th birthday anniversary, covering around 1 hectare with a total investment of nearly VND78 billion, of which 50% came from the Central budget. Nguyen Huu Tho was born on July 10th, 1910 in Ben Luc district, Long An province. He was Chairman of Consultative Council of the Republic of South Vietnam from June 6th, 1969 to April 25th, 1976 and Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam from July 4th to June 18th, 1987. At the ceremony, Truong Hoa Binh, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, announced that Nguyen Huu Tho was a fine student of President Ho Chi Minh and an excellent example of the personal and morality needed for the revolution. He also called for the people and authorities of Long An province to continue promoting the revolutionary and patriotic traditions of country. On this occasion, Nguyen Huu Chau, a son of the late lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho, presented VND50 million to the Nguyen Huu Tho scholarship fund with the aim of helping local poor pupils and encourage them to overcome difficulties./. |
