NDO – A programme aiming to attract tourists from the six visa-exempted countries (the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Belarus) was introduced at a conference held by the Hanoi municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DCST) in Hanoi on July 23.

Representatives of tourism companies’ attending the conference contributed ideas to developing tourism products, implementing and promoting tourism demand stimulating programmes effectively in order to attract tourists from the six countries. They also raised difficulties and hindrances and requested the DCST to address the issues.

Truong Minh Tien, Vice Director of the DCST affirmed that Hanoi will take drastic measures to promote the city’s tourism and stimulate the tourism demand from the five Western European countries as well as Belarus.

He urged tourism companies to develop their products and services and to contribute products which are appropriate for each market, as well as to advertise such products in publications and brochures.

Hanoi is one of the two biggest centres attracting and transferring international tourists to other localities nationwide, therefore it is crucial that the capital city creates a good impression on tourists in order to attract an increasing number of international tourists to the country.

To promote the city’s tourism, the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee has issued a directive on enhancing State management efficiency, recovering shortcomings and boosting tourism development in order to realise the Government’s directive on building a more attractive tourism environment for the capital.
