(VOV) – Dinh Phuong Thanh was the face of the Southeast Asian Games on the morning of June 8 when he soared to the men’s vault title with a score of 86.15 points, delivering gold and a high profile for Vietnam.
The world champion narrowly edged out Pham Phuoc Hung (also from Vietnam) who claimed second place and a silver medal with 85.25 points.
Meanwhile, the national canoeing team added another pair of bronze medals – one for Vu Thi Linh in the K1-500m and the other for the national female team in the K4-500m event.
Ngo Ron also earned a bronze in petanque.
Vietnam currently ranks third overall in the medal tally with 22 gold medals in addition to nine silver and 27 bronze.
