VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam’s Ly Hoang Nam booked a berth in the third round of the French Open’s boys’ singles in Paris yesterday, June 2.
No 11 seed Nam defeated Nathan Ponwith of the United States 6-1, 6-2.
Ponwith, who is seeded No 25 in the world, killed himself with seven double faults and seven unforced errors during a match which lasted nearly an hour.
Nam will next play Djurabeck Karimov of Uzbekistan, who beat No 3 seed Hong Seong-chan of South Korea 6-2, 6-3 earlier yesterday.
In the doubles event, Nam and his partner Bogdan Bobrov of Russia will meet Germany’s Tim Sandkaulen and Hungary’s Mate Valkusz.
They made an impressive start in the first round on Monday by defeating French duo Matteo Martineau and Alexandre Muller 6-0, 6-3.
