HCM CITY (VNS) — Captain Phung Ngoc Vinh Quy scored twice to help Khanh Hoa beat Thua Thien-Hue 2-1 in the curtain-raiser of the National Beach Football Championship yesterday.
Quy netted the ball for Khanh Hoa, leading the first half 2-0 before Truong Vinh Phong pulled back a goal for Thua Thien-Hue in the second half.
In the second game of the day, Hyno Da Nang crushed Sai Gon Nhan Tin 4-2 after a 1-0 loss in the first half.
The championship has drawn four teams competing in a two-leg round-robin format for VND30 million (US$1,400) cash-prize.
According to the Viet Nam Football Federation’s Deputy General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi the championship will help the federation choose the top players for the national team in preparation for the 2016 Asian Beach Games in Da Nang.
The championship closes on Sunday. — VNS
