The course, for under-6, under-8, and under-10 year olds, focuses on basic football techniques, team spirit, life skills, self-confidence, as well as sportsmanship.

Japanese trainer Masakuni Yamamoto, who is a former manager of Japan U23, said this year’s players had better skills and techniques, compared to those in previous camps. They also were described as possessing good physiques, being highly motivated and never give up.

He further believed that they could be future stars for Vietnamese football if they receive good care and support.

Similar camps will be organised in Vinh City on June 21 to choose 125 children. The two-week training course is from June 29 to July 11.

The programme has been organised and sponsored by Yamaha Motor Vietnam since 2007 as part of the company’s commitment to developing stable and comprehensive football opportunities among the country’s grassroots.
