Tourist attractions nationwide were crowded with domestic and foreign visitors during the April 30 – May 1 holidays.
Over 60,000 travellers rushed to Sapa in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai between April 28 and May 3, vastly surpassing the forecast figure of 12,000 visitors.
The central province of Quang Nam teemed with over 50,000 holiday-makers, especially in Cu Lao Cham (Cham Island) and Hoi An city’s tourist areas.
Le Van Son, Deputy Chairman of Hoi An People’s Committee said the locality will prioritise sea and island tourism development, particularly on Cham Island. Meanwhile, the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau greeted over 550,000 tourists, generating nearly 200 billion VND (9.5 million USD) in revenue for the local tourism sector, up 40 percent compared to the same period last year.
In the Central Highlands city of Da Lat, travel and lodging agencies were at full capacity as vacationers came in flocks.
Close to 120,000 tourists, including some 3,200 foreigners, visited tourist attractions such as Dalat Star sculptural village.-VNA
