Vietnam pocketed its third win at the Badminton World Federation Sudirman Cup in China, beating Australian 3-2 on May 14.

Australia won the mixed doubles event with Leanne Choo and Robin Middleton beating Duong Bao Duc and Thai Thi Hong Gam 21-14, 21-16.

Vietnam fought back winning both men’s and women’s singles matches thanks to Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang, leading national athletes. Minh won 21-9, 21-10 over Daniel Guda and Trang defeated Joy Lai 21-12, 21-7.

The Aussies then levelled the result when Choo and Gronya Somerville beat Trang and Nguyen Thi Sen 21-18, 21-18 in the women’s doubles event.

In the decisive men’s doubles match, the Vietnamese successfully took the day. Dao Manh Thang and Le Ha Anh won 21-16, 17-21, 21-12 in a 43-minute match.

Vietnam will play Czech next.
