Vietnamese tennis star Ly Hoang Nam

NDO – Vietnam’s tennis star Ly Hoang Nam leapt up two places to claim the 12th position in the latest International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior rankings with 739.38 points.

It is the highest position on the ITF Junior rankings that a young Vietnamese player has ever achieved.

The rating was attributed to his qualifying for the quarterfinals of in the recent in the boys’ singles event of the Grade A 56° Trofeo Bonfiglio tournament in Milan, Italy.

Also on the ITF Junior rankings, Nam ranked fourth in Asia, following Chan Seong Hong and Yunseong Chun from the Republic of Korea and Japan’s Akira Santillan.

The 18-year-old player is concentrating on the 2015 Roland Garros Junior French Championships which is scheduled from May 31 to June 6 in Paris. He has been named No.11 seed in the boys’ singles event at the tournament.

Conversely, he dropped six places to 1256th in the latest ATP rankings with five points because he has not competed at any ATP tournaments over the past weeks.

If he succeeds in the upcoming Roland Garros championships, he can enter the ITF’s top ten junior rankings.

After the Roland Garros, Hoang Nam will prepare for the Wimbledon tournament matches on grass in the UK from July 4 to 10.
