NDO – Former lecturers of the Vietnam National Academy of Music Tran To Lan and Dinh Quang Hop were honoured with Lao’s labour orders, third class, for their contributions to teaching music students of Laos during the 1965 – 1969 period.

Addressing the ceremony held in the Lao capital city of Vientiane on April 10, Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Buangan Saphuvong recalled the sentiment between Vietnamese lecturers and Lao students, including himself, during the period.

On behalf of Lao students who lived and studied in Vietnam, the Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Party and Government for supporting human resource training in Laos and to the Vietnamese people who provided support to Lao students despite difficulties.

He affirmed that the fair-minded and whole-hearted dedication extended by Vietnamese teachers, and lecturers Tran To Lan and Dinh Quang Hop in particular, contributed to consolidating the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between the two Parties, States and peoples.

Although time passes, the deep sentiment and gratitude between teachers and students from the two countries will remain unchanged, he stressed.

Teacher Dinh Quang Hop expressed his delight to see his former students again; many of who now hold significant positions in Lao’s State agencies.

He also showed his deep gratitude to the Lao Party and State for their acknowledgement to Vietnamese teachers’ support to Laos.
