VietNamNet Bridge – The exhibition “150 years of Quoc Ngu (Vietnam national language script) newspapers in the period 1865-1954″ includes many old and rare newspapers, gathered from valuable collections of many newspaper collectors across the country. The exhibition lasts from April 18 to 21 and is being held at the Vietnam National Library in Hanoi.
The exhibition showcases more than 150 old newspapers, selected from the collections of four collectors Ta Thu Phong, Hoang Minh, Trinh Hung Cuong and Nguyen Phat Ha Giang.
In this exhibition, alongside famous newspapers such Gia Dinh, Nam Phong, Thanh Nghi, Phong hoa, and Khai Tri Tien Duc journal, are the first newspapers on the topics of industry-commerce such as Nong Co Min Dam and Saigon Economic Weekly, and the first newspapers on the topics of women such as Tan Van Women and Equality Daily Newspaper, and newspapers for children, including Children’s Magazine and Children’s Graphics, among others.
Old newspapers in the exhibition:
Gia Dinh was the first newspaper in Vietnamese script, launched on 15.4.1865 in Saigon.
The first issue of Tieng Dan (People’s Voice) newspaper dated 10/8/1927 People and the last issue dated No. 1766 dated 24/4/1943. The chairman-cum-managing editor is Huynh Thuc Khang.
Khai Hoa Daily was founded by tycoon Bach Thai Buoi. Its editor was Hoang Tich Chu and later Do Than. The first issue was dated 15/7/1921 and the last edition was dated 31/8/1927.
The first issue of Duoc Nha Nam Newspaper was dated 26/09/1928.
Tu Tri Newspaper belonged to the Vietnam Student’s Association, published on March 9, 1945 and was suspended before the August Revolution in 1945.
The first issue of Ngay Nay (Today) Newspaper was published on 30/1/1939 and the last issue (224) was printed on September 7, 1940.
Nam Ky Kinh Te (Southern Economy) Newspaper was launched in October 1920 and the last issue (43) was published in February 1924.

Song Huong (Perfume River) newspaper.
Nam Phong newspaper had its first issue released in January 1917 and the 194th issue in April 1934. The 195th issue was published in May 1934 and the last issue (210) was printed on December 16, 1934.
Luc Tinh Tan Van newspaper released the first issue on November 14, 1907 and on October 1, 1921 it was merged with the Nam Trung Daily, and its last issue was published in December 1944.
Nong Cong Thuong (Agri-Industry-Agro) - one of the oldest newspapers in Vietnam.
The first issue of Viet Kieu Nhut Bao (Overseas Vietnamese Daily) was published on December 30, 1938.
