The 2015 Vietnam Poetry Day opened at the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Association in District 3 on March 4.

The event titled Unification Spring-The City Thinking of the Country’s Seas and Islands is part of the 13th National Poetry Day held on the 15th day of the first lunar month.


About 25 poetry clubs from local universities and cultural houses also held performances of poetry to present latest works and introduce new members.


A unique of collection of poems by 40 young poets who were born after April 30, 1975 will be auctioned to raise money for disadvantaged young writers.


The 2015 Vietnam Poetry Day in Ho Chi Minh City will run until March 5.


The 13th Vietnam Poetry Day opened in Hanoi, Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh northern provinces from March 2-7.


This year’s event with the theme of islands and seas presents a present a comprehensive picture of Vietnamese literature’s value and achievements.


Poets of the Vietnam Writers’ Association and members from poetry clubs and universities nationwide together with soldiers of the Vietnam Naval High Command, the High, and international poets from the UK, France, Brazil, South Africa and Pakistan join the event.


Sidelines activities included exhibition on Vietnamese and international literatures, art street featuring calligraphy and parallel sentence, and performances of folk art.
