Second Ao Dai festival to be held in Ho Chi Minh City

NDO – The second Ao Dai Festival will be held at Dam Sen Cultural Park, Ho Chi Minh City on March 7-8 to mark International Women’s Day.

At the press briefing on February 27 hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this year’s festival themed ‘Ho Chi Minh City – the City of Ao Dai’ will feature a wide range of activities such as an ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) display, and an ao dai photo contest in addition to a drawing contest and ao dai fashion show.

According to the organising board, Miss Ao Dai Vietnam Lan Khue will attend the festival to meet and take photos with visitors.

Visitors wearing an Ao Dai to the event will be offered half-price or free tickets, and all women will receive a 50% discount for International Women’s Day.

The festival aims to honour the traditional cultural features and charm of Vietnamese ao dai as well as the beauty of Vietnamese women.

The festival is also a chance to promote the fashion to tourists and for designers to meet with the public.

The event is also part of a series of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the south and national reunification.
