NDO – President Truong Tan Sang offered incense to late General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu at his memorial house in Tu Son town’s Phu Khe commune in the northern province of Bac Ninh on February 14.
The State leader expressed his respect and deep gratitude to late General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu – a brilliant leader of the Party and Vietnam revolutionary, and a shining example of the communists’ resilient and indomitable spirit, who sacrificed their whole to the Party and people’s revolutionary cause.
Earlier the same day, President Sang visited and extended Lunar New Year (Tet) congratulations to Prof. Dr. and People’s Artist Nguyen Dinh Quang, former deputy minister of Culture and Information; Prof. Dr. To Ngoc Thanh, President of the Vietnam Folk Arts and Letters Association, a leading scientist in folk culture; and Prof. Phung The Truong, former lecturer of labour and population at the National Economics University.
The president asked about the scientists’ health and praised their outstanding achievements and contributions made to the country.
Extending best Tet wishes to the hosts, President Sang said he hoped that the scientists would continue upholding creativeness in their work in order to train and educate younger generations, contributing to building and promoting the Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
