Thousands workers in a company in the northern region of Vietnam returned their Tet gifts given by their company for doubting the gifts containing fake products.
On February 13, nearly 8,000 workers at the Tinh Loi 2 sewing Ltd. Co. in the northern province of Hai Duong gave their company back their Tet gifts including a bottle of cooking oil, a bottle of fish sauce and a package of seasoning powder each.
Tet, which is the Vietnamese term for the Lunar New Year, will fall on February 19 this year.
According to the workers, after receiving the gifts, they found that the cooking oil bottles’ lids were not wrapped with plastic seal and the bottles did not have plastic security cover under the lid like normal cook oil bottles.
“The fish sauce didn’t smells normally, while the cooking oil bottles were not sealed as usual so we doubted that they are fake products and decided to return them,” a worker expressed.

that the company has certificates on the products’ quality and food safety.
“We tried to explained but the workers didn’t listen to us,” he expressed.
Hoa said the workers may not often use those kinds of fish sauce and cooking oil so they don’t want to receive, meanwhile, they accept the package of seasoning powder from a well-known producer.
He said the company worked with the seller on the seal of cooking oil bottles.
“They said that this kind of product was designed that way and confirmed it’s not a fake product,” Hoa said. “They also agreed to withdraw the product and give us back money if the workers do not like the product.”
He added each gift is worth VND120,000 (US$5.59) and the company will give money for those who refuse to get the gifts.
