The Vietnamese capital has inaugurated a center which is the result of a French-assisted project dedicated to promoting the time-honored culture of its Old Quarter.
The Hanoi Old Quarter Culture Exchange Center, located at 50 Dao Duy Tu Street, Hoan Kiem District, was opened on Monday, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The Old Quarter, located in the same district, gathers households working in time-honored handicrafts and small businesses.
The quarter has grown to be one of the city’s most popular tourist attractions.
The culture center is the result of the collaboration between the Hanoi government and France’s Toulouse City on the preservation of the Vietnamese capital’s Old Quarter.
A three-floor edifice covering an area of 458 square meters, the center is an ingenious combination between age-old and contemporary architectural features.
Visitors to the place will have an opportunity to know about the conservation of the Old Quarter’s tangible and intangible heritage.
The center will also serve as a venue for local and international cultural exchange activities.
Some activities to start with are a photo exhibit titled “Old-Time Hanoi” and those held to celebrate the 85th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam on Tuesday, February 3.
