Deputy PM Phuc urges strengthening anti-smuggling at Mong Cai border gate

NDO – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has urged relevant market management forces, customs, and border guards at Mong Cai International Border Gate to strengthen co-ordination and supervision in the fight against smuggling.

The deputy PM, who is also Head of the National Steering Committee on the Prevention and Control of Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Fake Commodities (or Steering Committee 389), on February 3 travelled to Mong Cai International Border Gate in northern Quang Ninh province to inspect anti-smuggling, crime prevention and public administration reform in the border area.

Phuc spoke highly of positive results gained by officers and soldiers at the station in the prevention of smuggling and trade fraud during the last year to maintain border security.

Due to the sophisticated ploys of contraband owners, especially in the context of the upcoming Lunar New Year, the deputy PM suggested the Mong Cai border gate to further co-ordinate with interdisciplinary forces to prevent smuggled goods from entering Vietnam.

At the same time, the border station is also required to endorse the prevention of drug-related crimes, human trafficking, and illegal firecrackers.

There is no restricted area in anti-smuggling, Phuc said, stressing that relevant authorities must monitor each other for better operation in current anti-smuggling work.

On the same day, Deputy PM Phuc visited Texhong Ngan Long Ltd., Co in Hai Yen Industrial Zone in Mong Cai city, and paid a Tet visit to task forces at Quang Duc and Bac Phong Sinh border posts.
