Rescuers on Saturday brought to safety nine crew members of a fishing boat which broke down off the southern coast of VIetnam on Friday.


The boat sent SOS signal after its engine broke down at 6 p.m some 70 nautical miles southeast of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. Its crew member were reported to be in a dangerous situation, according to the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center (VMRCC).


A VMRCC rescue vessel found the boat at 5 a.m. Saturday and took the nine sailors and their boat to Con Dao island district of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.


According to VMRCC, no deaths or missing cases at sea have been reportedly since February 15.
