Taking part in the programme, young people will learn more about how to make Chuong Village conical hats.
NDO – A programme offering a good opportunity for Vietnamese and foreign students living and studying in Hanoi to experience the capital’s intangible cultural heritages will take place from March 7 to May 19.
The event was launched on January 27 by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the occasion of the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.
Taking part in the programme, young people will visit heritage sites and join traditional festivals, as well as learn and perform folk arts including Ca Tru (ceremonial singing), Cheo (traditional opera), xam (ballads once sung by wandering blind musicians) and water puppetry.
They can also learn and experience traditional crafts such as making conical hats (craft in Chuong village) and making ‘To He’ (a traditional toy made by hand with glutinous rice powder).
This must-try experience is expected to raise public awareness, especially amoung young people, of preservation, protection and promotion of the nation’s cultural heritages, particularly in the capital, Hanoi.
The activity also contributes to introducing effectively and widely the image and value of intangible cultural heritages in Hanoi to people in other localities and international friends, as well as promoting the development of experience tourism.
