NDO – A festival to welcome the 2015 Lunar New Year, featuring a series of special art and cultural programmes, will be held starting February 16 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Organised by the Sai Gon Travel Service Company (Saigontourist), the festival is scheduled to include three main events: decorative colorful lights on Ham Nghi Road for New Year and Lunar New Year; fireworks on 2015 Lunar New Year’s Eve, and the flower road.

This year’s flower road, held for the past 11 years on neighbouring Nguyen Hue Street, will run from Pho Duc Chinh to Ho Tung Mau. Nguyen Hue Street has been closed off for work on the city’s first metro line.

The flower road, featuring three main segments this year — Hao Khi Viet Nam (Vietnam’s Generosity), Ban Sac Viet (Vietnamese Identity) and Vinh Quang Viet Nam (Glorious Vietnam) — will open from 7pm on February 16 to 10pm on February 22.

A series of art activities, including lion dance, music performances and art programmes, will also be held at Caravelle, Rex, Majestic, Grand, Continental, Oscar, Bong Sen (Lotus) and Palace hotels.

Earlier, the Saigontourist co-ordinated hotels in the city centre to put up decorative colorful lights from December 1, 2014 to February 28, 2015.
