Business Start-up Contest: Towards Realisation of Business Projects

The Finale and Awarding of Business Start-up Contest 2014 was held in Hanoi on January 10, 2015. The programme not only identified and honoured best business plans but opened up opportunities for young entrepreneurs and students across the country in 2015 and beyond, thus contributing to the development of innovative entrepreneur force.Higher project quality


In 2014, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) carried out a series of activities in the Business Start-up Programme across the country like launching the contest, sharing experience, training business start-ups, linking education, and consulting investment. The Organising Committee launched the contest at the start of the year and posted contest information the programme’s website http://bit.ly/1JdRX8i. By the end of October 2014, the Organising Committee received 108 candidate projects from 346 young people and students from 17 universities, colleges and localities across the country.


Dr Pham Thi Thu Hang, VCCI General Secretary and Head of the Organising Committee for Business Start-up Programme, said this year’s programme was different from previous years. The Organising Committee did not receive contests from schools as in previous years but some universities received candidate projects and sent qualified ones to the Organising Committee to take part in the VCCI Business Start-up Programme. Agriculture Academy and the University of Foreign Trade had many candidate contests. In the south, the Southern Business Start-up Consulting – Supporting Council selected many projects to forward qualified ones to the Organising Committee. In addition, this year, many universities and localities like Forestry University, Ba Ria – Vung Tau University, Son La province and Yen Bai province sent candidate projects for the first time.


After the three qualifying rounds, the Jury selected seven best projects with the highest scores for the final round. Gladly, finalist projects covered many fields like agriculture, industry, information technology and services. Specifically, the candidate projects included A-Seedling advanced seedling project, Minh Son Food fresh fish and food shop chain project, G’Le Monde Project – Online school for women, Shan Tuyet Bo Duot tea production and distribution cooperative project, Canh Kien Do fish stocking project, northern moringa development project, and saltwater-to-freshwater filterer production and business project. The winner is A-Seedling advanced seedling project.








The Business Start-up Programme, initiated and led by VCCI, has entered the 13th year. The programme has inspired entrepreneurship of the young and students, supported and built up the young entrepreneur force for , and trained high-quality human resources for the industrialisation and modernisation of the nation.

Realising business projects


In addition to announcing the final round of business start-up contest in 2014, Business Forum Newspaper also assembled the meeting of Advisory Board of Business Start-up Programme to further develop the overall business start-up programme and complete business start-up curricula for trainees.


Mr Pham Ngoc Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Business Forum Newspaper, said the Business Start-up Programme 2015 will primarily focus on offering investment projects that can be brought into life. The programme will go through three steps: Brainstorming, business project establishment, and business establishment. These steps are really effective for the Business Start-up Programme 2015 to find out really potential projects and make them enterprises.


Ms Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh, – Chairwoman of Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council, Chair of the Council of Business Start-up Consulting and Supporting, said the quality-centred shift is a right approach. She added that the formation of a consulting knowledge-sharing forum for expert professionals and students or people interested in programme is a good and practical idea.
