VietNamNet Bridge – Cambodian child beggars have appeared again in HCM City standing in the sun at intersections asking for money.
The children are usually accompanied by elderly women, and some some babies are half-naked to win sympathy from passersby.
Cambodia beggars often stand at the gate of Vinh Loc Industrial Park in Binh Tan district, Trung Chanh intersection in District 12 and Hoc Mon district, the intersection of Nguyen Trai – Nguyen Van Cu, and the roads of Tran Phu, An Duong Vuong in districts 1 and 5. They are carried by motorcycle in the morning by men. While kids and women beg for money, the men sit in a nearby coffee shop to monitor the situation.
Cambodians enter Vietnam via the Moc Bai border gate.
These babies are carried back and forth in heat and smoke from morning till evening.
At the intersection of Nguyen Trai - Nguyen Van Cu in districts 1 and 5, a group of two women and four kids sit at the traffic light pole to beg.
At noon, the kids have lunch and play on the roadside.
A woman in this group said they would be in Vietnam for two days.
Early this year, several groups of Cambodian child beggars aged between 2-12, who were controlled by adults, appeared in HCM City. After the local authorities strengthened patrols, they disappeared after a few months.
