HA NOI (VNS) – The 10-man national football team yesterday defeated Quang Nam, 4-0, in a friendly match at the Binh Duong Provinces Go Dau Stadium.

Nguyen Van Quyet and Nguyen Hai Anh scored two goals for the team whiledefender Tran Dinh Thang of Quang Nam scored another in the first half.

In the second half, Japanese coach Toshiya Miura decided to use only 10 players, with only Hai Anh in the front line. Hai Anh responded by scoring his second goal of the game atthe 85th minute, making it 4-0 for his team.

Miura said the use of just 10 men was part of his plan. “Vietnamese players always lose their concentration when they lead in a match. I wanted to train themto focus on defence in all situations in the match,” he explained.

Viet Nam will play another match against the South Korean student squad at the Thong Nhat Stadium in HCM City thisafternoon.- VNS
