— Chu Van Chung, the ‘possible Vietnamese Ebola patient’ who arrived from Guinea, was Sunday discharged from a hospital in the central city of Da Nang, where he was admitted on Saturday after showing a high fever, after he tested negative for the deadly virus three times, according to doctors.
— Human placentas are widely available at traditional drug stores across Ho Chi Minh City, with traders demanding exorbitant prices for the products, saying they have medical properties. The placentas are in fact dangerous as they may contain viruses or diseases, according to doctors.
— Police in the northern province of Quang Ninh unearthed Sunday a major smuggling ring that illicitly transport products from China to Vietnam. Officers seized more than 100 tons of contraband goods.

— Vietnam is the top foreign investor in Laos, with 250 projects worth more than US$5 billion, the Ministry of Planning and Investment revealed at a conference in the south-central province of Binh Dinh on Sunday.
— The new nonstop service between Moscow and Vietnam’s resort city of Nha Trang has been officially launched with the first flight carrying 220 passengers landed at the latter’s Cam Ranh International Airport on Saturday.
— National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines launched Sunday a new nonstop service between Phu Quoc Island, the biggest in Vietnam, and Singapore. There are two weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays, using Airbus A321 aircraft.

— The first installment of the fictionalized Vietnamese historical comic “Long Than Tuong” (Marshal Long) was released Sunday in Ho Chi Minh City. The comic is known as the first to be successfully launched with money raised via crowdfunding.

— A lecturer will receive cash award worth up to 30 times the average wage at their college if they have an article published on a prestigious international science journal, according to a new government’s decree that takes effect December 15.

— Top Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh dropped one notch to 18th in the world badminton rankings, while Malaysia’s Lee Chong Wei remains at the top, the sport’s governing body has announced.
— The South Korea Student football team arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday to prepare for a friendly game with the Vietnamese national squad on Tuesday.
— Vietnam brought home three gold medals at the 9th WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, which wrapped up its four-day competitions in Aguascalientes, Mexico, on Sunday.
