The Latin American Film Week is slated to open next week, offering audiences in Hanoi three films that previously gained fame overseas, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said Friday on its website.
The film week is intended to bring Latin American cinema closer to Vietnamese people and will be held from October 6 to 11 at Cinematheque at 22A Hai Ba Trung Street, Hoan Kiem District.
The event, featuring films with several topics including society, politics, and history, is also a chance to promote the diversity of Latin American cinema and culture, according to the Vietnamese culture ministry.
The film week will screen three flicks, including “To Fool a Thief” by young Argentine director Ariel Winograd, “BolĂvar, Man of Difficulties” from Venezuela, and “Toussaint Louverture,” which tells the story of Haitian slaves’ leaders against the French.
The event, running for the second time in Vietnam, is jointly organized by the Embassies of Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, Haiti, and Venezuela.
All films will have English and Vietnamese subtitles.
