Vietnam badminton star Nguyen Tien Minh

NDO – Vietnam badminton star Nguyen Tien Minh, ranked 32nd in the world, finished off Indonesia’s Andre Kurniawan Tedjono 2-1 in the first round of the 2015 Yonex Open Chinese Taipei Badminton Championships on July 15.

World number 37 player Andre Kurniawan Tedjono entered the game with great determination and confidence. After an equalised score of 12-12, the Indonesian player took the lead and declared a 21-15 victory in the first set.

However, Tien Minh outplayed his opponent in the second set and forced his rival to concede a 21-8 defeat.

Vietnam’s number one badminton player maintained his pace in the remaining set. With firm competitive experience, Tien Minh controlled the game and claimed the set with a score of 21-12.

Nguyen Tien Minh finally beat Indonesia’s Andre Kurniawan Tedjono 2-1 after 52 minutes of competition.

Tien Minh’s opponent in the second round will be the tournament’s No.9 seed Hu Yun from Hong Kong (China). Hu Yun defeated Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia with scores of 21-16 and 21-15 after only 32 minutes of competition in the first round.

Earlier, Tien Minh faced Hu Yun in nine rounds and Hong Kong’s player scored five victories against the Vietnamese star.

Meanwhile, Tien Minh’s teammate Vu Thi Trang lost 0-2 to player Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand after 32 minutes in the tournament’s first round.
