Vietnam’s largest photography club holds int’l photo competition

Gia Dinh Photo Club, Vietnam’s largest of its kind, has launched an international photo competition open to all photographers – professional or not – in Vietnam and the world over.

The 4th Gia Dinh Photo Club’s International Photo Contest 2014 is patronized by the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), Photographic Society of America (PSA), and France’s Image Sans Frontière (ISF).

Its four categories include colored, monochromatic, nature, and tourism photos, each with four submissions at most.

Monochromatic photos feature shades of grey or another single color.

Nature photos are those which capture wildlife, including flora and insects, in their natural environment, not tamed or captive animals.

Tourism photos accentuate the beauty of landscapes, culture, and people.

The jury comprises local and international prize-winning photographers, including Singapore’s David Tay, the U.S.’s Joanne Stolte, and Marie Louise – chair of the ISF.

Submissions will be accepted from now to October 25. Eighty awards will be given away in this photo competition.

Results will be announced on November 8, and the awards ceremony and exhibition will be held on December 20.

Gia Dinh Photography Club, based in Ho Chi Minh City, gathers a large number of talented local photographers.

Several of them have won coveted prizes at international competitions.

The club’s three previous international photo contests in 2008, 2010, and 2012 were quite a success.
