Italian painter to hold art exhibition in northern Vietnam next week

An Italian female artist will open her art exhibition on contemporary Vietnam in Hanoi next week, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said Friday on its website.

The exhibit, “Attimi – Images of the Ordinary in Vietnam,” by Italian artist Barbara Pellizzari is scheduled to run from September 18 to October 2 at Casa Italia, 18 Le Phung Hieu Street, Hoan Kiem District.

The event will feature the images of contemporary Vietnam in its everyday reality seen through the personal perspective of Pellizzari.

The paintings, created on “do” paper (Vietnam’s time-honored paper), is expected to draw viewer attention thanks to the impressive, skillful use of colors and tones that vividly reflect the personality of the artist as well as the beauty of Vietnam.

Barbara Pellizzari was born in Turin, an important economic and cultural center in northern Italy, and holds a diploma in fashion, theater design, and painting conservation.

She worked in the field of art restoration with several art institutes in the U.S., Austria, Pakistan, and China, and gave art lessons at Shanghai Community International School in 1996.

In 2011, the artist organized her “Pebbles in My Pocket” expo in China whose artworks mainly used Chinese ink. Pellizzari and her family moved to Vietnam in September 2012.

Last year, she put on “Cargo,” an exhibition that was aimed at promoting the dynamic and modern features of Ho Chi Minh City.
