With 2.13 billion USD in half-year revenue, two-way trade between Vietnam and the UK has picked up again after a long time of slowdown.
By early July, Vietnam shipped more than 670 million USD worth of phones and spare parts to the UK, together with 246 million USD worth of garment and footwear valued at 265 million USD, said Deputy Director of the Agency of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Dieu Ha. Wood and wooden products also brought home over 134 million USD from the UK.
However, Ha quoted sources from the Vietnam Trade Office in the UK as saying that Vietnamese exporters still face obstacles in the market due to the gap in development level and business culture. In addition, Vietnamese goods have to cope with intense competition with rivals from Europe, India, China and Brazil.
To have a bigger slice of market share here, trade experts suggested domestic firms come up with a detailed action plan while keeping in touch with potential partners and building trust via their capability and product quality.-VNA
