(VOV) -Vietnamese women’s U19 team has taken berth to the final round of the 2014 Southeast Asia Football Tournament after holding a 1-1 draw with Myanmar.
Although Vietnam needed a draw to cruise to the final match, coach Nguyen Duy Hung asked his players to apply the attacking tactic to secure a win.
Vietnamese players kept the game under their control, and striker Hoai Luong had two scoring chances, but the ball hit the woodwork twice.
Khin Pyae Lin’s own goal gave Vietnam a 44th minute lead.
After the interval, heavy downpours affected both teams’ tactics. Myanmar players tried to level the score and their efforts were rewarded in the 64th minute with Wai Zin Hnin’s superb strike.
No more goals were made before the referee’s last whistle.
Vietnam will meet Thailand in the final match at Rajamangala Stadium on August 26.
