Speeding up highway construction: HCMC Chairman

Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Chairman Le Hoang Quan and leaders from Departments of Transport, Planning and Investment, and Finance went on an inspection tour about the progress of HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Highway on August 18.

The 55km highway goes through Districts 2 and 9 in HCMC and Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, Cam My and Thong Nhat Districts in the neighboring province of Dong Nai, according to director of the project’s management board Le Manh Hung.

The section in HCMC stretches four kilometers including two country’s largest intersections. It is expected to open for traffic by the end of next year. Site clearance in the area has been done for construction of the highway except some water, telecommunication and electricity infrastructures.

Chairman Quan instructed relevant sides to urgently remove these works, hand over the space in August and ensure uninterrupted communication and power supply.

The project management board should supervise and speed up the highway construction to ease traffic pressure in the area, especially vehicles from Cat Lai Port, chairman Quan instructed.
