More than 60 posters and ancient maps affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over its seas and islands, including, significantly the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, are on display at an exhibition which opened in the Mekong delta city of Can Tho, on August 19.


Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Tran Viet Phuong, said the event is hoped to raise public awareness of border issues and promote patriotism.


The exhibits also depict the will of Vietnamese fishermen and law enforcement agencies to protect the sovereignty of the fatherland.


The event will run until August 25./.
