Ho Chi Minh City’s police on August 20 confirmed brown substance declared palm sugar to be destined to Australia is Pseudoephedrine, a precursor used to produce methamphetamine or “ice”.
On August 19, customs officers in the City found the substance weighing over 2 kilograms in an express package sent by an individual from the southern province of Dong Nai.
The 5.18 kilo package also includes coconut candies, dried fish and edible seaweed.
The case is under further investigation.
Over the last eight months, the municipal customs detected and seized over 69 kilograms of drug precursors and 4.22 kilograms of heroin, all were stashed in foodstuff and delivered via air.-VNA
