Nhan Dan Online – The State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) and the Representative Office of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in Vietnam co-organised a conference in Hanoi on August 14 to discuss measures to implement the SAV Strategic Development Plan for the 2013-2017 period.
The workshop provided a platform to table solutions for successful realisation of the plan, while raising domestic and international agencies’ awareness of its strategic development plan’s goals and contents, so they could support the SAV’s implementation process in accordance with their capacities, SAV Deputy Auditor General, Prof. Dr. Doan Xuan Tien said.
Deputies focused their discussion on specific and comprehensive measures to realise the plan’s strategic goals, including improving SAV’s legal status and operational efficiency, enhancing auditors’ qualifications and professionalism, strengthening SAV’s application capacity of to international standards, improving SAV proficiency in building audit plans, raising the management quality of audit activities, and promoting information technology application in SAV activities.
Citing some challenges during the implementation process, Deputy Chief of the SAV Office, Dr. Nguyen Huu Phuc stressed the need to review the strategic plan’s goals and activities and identify priorities in each specific purpose and project, thereby arranging resources in an effective manner.
A senior financial management specialist of the World Bank, Christopher Robert Fabling emphasised that it was the most important to build a common foundation to effectively monitor the quality of audit activities.
The SAV needed to figure out the most practical goals for the audit sector to conduct effective measurement bases, he said, adding that the audit sector also needed to implement more effective audit methods, instead of just financial reports as during the past.
