As of August 5, a total of 209 Vietnamese workers were sent back home from violence-plagued localities in Libya, where armed conflicts are escalating, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the same day.

Also by yesterday, 182 of the 281 Vietnamese workers in the capital Tripoli and Benghazi City – the two areas of hostility – had been moved to safe places, pending repatriation to Vietnam, the ministry said.
Vietnamese citizens in Libya can contact the Vietnamese Embassy in the North African country via the hotlines +0084 918370497 or +0084 948948458 for help in emergency cases, it added.
By Tuesday evening, about 1,550 Vietnamese workers remained working in 15 localities in Libya, namely Tripoli, Ghademesh, Jalut, Misrata, Sirte, Qubbah, Ra’s Lanuf, Naffora, El Sharara, Amal, Brega, Ajdabiya, Benghazi, Sebha, and Ubari, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s Consular Department said.
Except for the 281 workers, the others are staying in non-violence localities in Libya, the department said.
The department added that it has coordinated with the Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), and the Vietnamese representative offices in Libya, Egypt, and Algeria in taking necessary action to protect Vietnamese citizens in Libya.
Currently, the Consular Department, the MOLISA’s Department of Overseas Labor Management, and 12 businesses that have sent Vietnamese workers to Libya are joining in repatriating those workers who are staying near dangerous areas.
Vietnamese competent agencies said they are keeping contact with Vietnamese workers who remain in Libya and that if the conflict there continues to get worse, all these workers will be sent back to Vietnam.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Libya said it is trying its best to repatriate Vietnamese workers in endangered areas as soon as it can, particularly those in Tripoli and Benghazi.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt also said it is ready to welcome Vietnamese guest workers who have to evacuate from Libya.
The Egyptian authorities have agreed to extend the transit time to 72 hours from 12 hours for Vietnamese workers evacuated from Libya, the embassy said.
