The Viet Nam A entered the final of the men’s team event beating Viet Nam B 3-0 at the Golden Paddle International Table Tennis Championships yesterday.

Viet Nam A will face South Korea A in the final today at Phan Dinh Phung Indoor Stadium in HCM City. The tournament is being played in the best-of-five format.

South Korea A proved they were the top contenders for the title when they beat India 3-0 in a very entertaining semi-final match, which lasted nearly two hours.

The best match of the five-match series was a five-set thriller between Lee Jun Sang and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran.

After drawing 2-2 in the first four sets, Gnanasekaran came out strongly in the decisive set to have three match points, but he missed them all to lose the set 13-11 with a mishit.

The loss allowed the South Koreans to establish a commanding 2-0 lead, and Kim Gang-woog beat Nitin Thiruvengadam 3-0 in the third match to guarantee a place in the final.

In the women’s doubles event, Hong Kong easily beat India 3-0 to enter the final today. – VNS
