That continues cycling tour dominance

Nguyen Thi That proved too strong over yesterday’s fifth stage of the An Giang Television Cycling Tournament.

The Gao Hat Ngoc Troi athlete led from front consecutive attacks from Binh Duong Environment-Water Supply and Drainage, VTV Van Tho and Imexpharm Dong Thap 2.

She finished the 80km stage from Vinh Long City to Vi Thanh City in Hau Giang Province with a time of 2hr 27.51min. She was followed by Nguyen Thuy Dung of Binh Duong and Geneleva Nadezhda from Kazakhstan.

Her fourth win on the six-stage tournament confirmed her top place in the overall rankings with a total time of 9:23.34.

Dung is in second with 9:24.50 and That’s teammate Phan Thi Lieu is third with 9:23.58.

That has already won her first title as sprint queen, having built up an unassailable lead with 70 points after five stages. There is only one stage left and she has 21 points more than her closest rival.

Her award is the green jersey at the start of the final stage today from Rach Gia City (Kien Giang Province) to Long Xuyen City (An Giang Province) over 75km. – VNS
